Advance-fee scandal

Sometimes called the "Nigerian Prince" email because it was a so-called messenger for many years, this type of spam promises a financial reward if you pay cash in advance first. The sender usually indicates that this cash advance is some kind of processing fee or a large sum of money, but once you pay, they disappear. To make it more personal, in a similar scandal the sender pretends to be a family member that there is a problem and needs money, but if you pay, unfortunately, the result is the same.
